Happy New Year 2025! Updates from CAIR-Nepal

 As we step into 2025, the entire CAIR-Nepal team wishes you and your loved ones a joyful, healthy, and prosperous New Year!

Looking back at 2024, we are proud to have made strides in research and the collaboration. Here are some highlights from the past year:

  • Collaborations: We strengthened partnerships with institutions in Nepal and internationally, fostering interdisciplinary solutions to complex challenges. Notably, we successfully established collaborations with Sunway College Kathmandu(https://sunway.edu.np)  and the Association for Law, Technology, and the Arts, Turkey (https://lawtechart.com),   creating opportunities for impactful research and innovation across diverse domains.
    Additionally, we are actively engaging with industry partners to establish research collaborations in areas such as healthcare. Stay tuned for exciting updates and announcements in the near future! 

  • New Members: Our community continues to flourish, with a growing number of collaborators and interns joining us. This year, we are delighted to welcome Ashish Pandey, Rubika Bashyal, Niraj Karki, Wenbo, Nabin Oli, and Abhash Shrestha to the CAIR-Nepal family. Your enthusiasm and commitment are truly appreciated, and we are excited to have you on board. I am dedicated to supporting your growth, sharing knowledge, and guiding you to make meaningful contributions. Welcome, and thank you for being a part of our journey!
    We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our other members for their continued support, dedication, and invaluable contributions, which have been instrumental in shaping CAIR-Nepal’s journey. Together, we are making a difference!

  • Projects: We are excited to share updates on our ongoing projects at CAIR-Nepal, where we are making significant progress in advancing AI research and its applications:
    - HeritageGraph: Illuminating Cultural Legacies Through Knowledge Graphs: This project focuses on creating a machine-processable knowledge representation of Nepalese cultural heritage using knowledge graphs, aiming to preserve and illuminate the rich cultural legacies of Nepal.

    - Bridging Minds and Machines: Human Perspectives and Responsible AI for an Inclusive Future: We are investigating diverse human viewpoints on AI to ensure its development aligns with societal needs and values, promoting responsible AI for an inclusive future.
    We are making steady progress in these initiatives and have planned updates to share with you in the coming months. Stay tuned for more information on how these projects are evolving and contributing to our mission of shaping the future with AI.

  • Ongoing Research: We are actively working on groundbreaking research in data privacy, responsible AI, and the development of a white paper that addresses critical challenges and proposes actionable solutions. These releases and completions, planned for 2025, will mark a significant milestone in advancing research.
    Importantly, these achievements will also stand as a testament to the valuable contributions of our interns, whose dedication and innovative efforts have been key in carrying this research forward. Stay tuned for more updates!

  • Publications: We are pleased to announce that CAIR-Nepal members has recently published two significant articles:

    Enabling Privacy-Aware Interoperable and Quality IoT Data Sharing with ContextPublished in the Future
    Generation Computer Systems journal, this article addresses the challenges of ensuring privacy and interoperability in IoT data sharing by introducing a context-aware framework.

    Scholarly Wikidata: Population and Exploration of Conference Data in Wikidata Using LLMs
    Published at the 24th International Conference on Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management, this article addresses the sustainability challenges of representing conference metadata in a machine-readable format.
